| My parents met when they were both too young to understand the consequences of a quick roll in the hay. They were nomads; humans and elves with hope in their hearts to get to Heaven. They fought mostly and then had alone adult time. I can never remember a simple peace in between their full moons of rage. When I was thirteen they killed each other. It appears my elf father had found heaven in the bottle, and my human mother in the arms of another. Orphaned, I began working and trading. My father wasn’t good for nothing per say, but good for very little; that little consisted of, drinking, carousing and trapping. My mother was good for less; carousing, singing and selling. Thankfully I inherited the knack for singing, selling and trapping and a hatred for carousing and drinking.
I became quite good at trapping little animals in makeshift snares and skinning them for food and furs. As time wore on I became older slower than all the other runts, but still I aged and became more stable. Still horrid with a bow, and less useful with a sword, though I could trap a man. I continued my parents search for Heaven, never finding it but always being one step away. The wind would pick up and I could smell it, on a clear day it was like I could see it. I have always tried to stay realistic, but the lost little girl in me is always hoping to find it just around the next tree. Maybe this time I will….
