When performing a task that has no time constraints and requires a skill check, rather than making several individual checks the group will instead work as a team. One person will be chosen as the representative for the group to perform the task at hand. If you are successful in your attempt, then you pass unscathed. Alternatively, if you fail your attempt two different things can happen, depending on the degree of failure. The group may succeed at their task, though at a cost; the character performing the main task gains a temporary [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. For instance, if a character climbs a rocky surface to secure a rope for the rest of the party, he may be successful in doing so, though afterwards become [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. However, if the degree of failure is substantial enough, then the task cannot be completed and a twist will be thrown at the group.

Regardless of the degree, once a task is failed it cannot be attempted again.

The purpose of this house rule is not to restrict the actions of the players, but to hasten gameplay and eliminate the repetitive nature of skill challenges during play. Instead of the entire party rolling constant climb checks to scale a wall, it allows for quicker resolution with an added bonus or role-playing.
