| The final march from the Underdark needed a leader.
After the heroic lieutenant of the Deepholme army, Durgen Steadmantle, died during an ambush from one of the many monstrous beasts that had begun to flood the tunnels and caverns, his first-in-command took the helm to lead the dwarves out of the darkness. She had been fighting the creatures of the dark ever since she was able to hold a sword and shield, and had taken up ranks alongside Durgen for the past ten years. Taking control of the remaining forces, Captain Letoshek was able to lead them back to Deepholme and through the Iron Gates, back into the sunlight that had not been seen in almost two-hundred years. However, during the march through the Underdark, the military had primarily taken control of the dwarven clans as there was no real use for a government or social class; people did their normal tasks of cooking, smithing, alchemy and mechanika though these all on the side of being part of the army. Now, there was no real need for a forceful military power and the people quickly swayed back towards a political order, a form of power that she had never seen in her lifetime.
Being in charge of hundreds of people that wished to start families and businesses and social events was not something that she was looking forward to, though the Captain was not about to turn away from the tasks that had been placed in front of her. With the help of a rudimentary Parliament consisting of a representative of each clan still alive, they have so far been able to give the people of Amberstone what they need; protection, food, business, and distractions for the darkened world that surrounds them. So far, Captain Letoshek has run the guard and militia with the same rigidity that she had when they were underneath the world while the politics have been left to the people. | |
